This website is dedicated to Gavin Ryne Winslow. Gavin was born on February 23, 2006 with end-stage renal failure, or congenital kidney failure. Gavy was born with only 10-15% function in one of his kidneys, and 0% function in the other. He was admitted to Children’s hospital of Wisconsin immediately after his birth and started on peritoneal dialysis. Peritoneal dialysis means that he is hooked up to a machine at home every night for 10 hours to “clean out” his blood. Without a kidney transplant, Gavin will not survive.

Why is it so important to donate money right now to Gavin’s campaign?

Gavin’s serious condition, End Stage Renal Failure, is long term, permanent, and will eventually result in death unless a kidney transplant is performed.

Gavin’s current peritoneal dialysis is only life-sustaining and will not change the condition of his kidneys.

It is important to note that hospitals require proof of payment BEFORE Gavin can even be placed on a transplant waiting list.

Our total goal is $100,000, however, if we raise $50,000 by August, 2007, the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) will donate $5,000 to Gavin’s fund. COTA only does this within the first year of fundraising.

A kidney transplant for baby Gavin costs around $200,000. The first year of follow up costs about $40,000. This does not even include any hospital stays Gavin may have during that first year. The medications needed to keep his kidney functioning, costs on average $2,000 per month. This cost will incur for his family as long as the kidney continues to function.

It is more than likely that Gavin will need another kidney transplant in ten to fifteen years. The overall costs are extraordinary.

Please help us save baby Gavin by making a 100% tax-deductible donation to his fund. By making your contribution, you honor this precious, young life.
